How do we work?

We create space for acquiring skills, gaining experience and support personal and professional development as well as civic engagement.

At our events we use the methods of non-formal education which we believe contribute to the effective knowledge assimilation and allow flexible approaches to the learning process.  The study program for Naighbours 3.0. is created by facilitators with the correspondence to the needs and interests of the participants, taking into the consideration their desires and expectations.

We believe in holistic learning, which engages the head, the hands and the heart: gaining new knowledge with the ability to evaluate and analyze/filter it; ability to understand and to express ones’ emotions and feelings; effectively put the obtained skills into practice while gaining new experience.

We aim for our participants to develop certain competencies: teamwork, intercultural dialogue, entrepreneurship, ability to initiate changes, turning ideas into actions. We encourage personal learning process as well as learning by doing as to gain knowledge based on practicing communication in different languages for example.

There is a lot of interaction and teamwork involved in the program frame, along with practical exercises which help to overcome personal barriers. Such processes take place both during our meetings, but also through informal relationships, during project implementation.

In our work and the existing approach to the projects implementations we rely on the basis of socio-cultural animation, as on the effective method of collaboration with local communities and deployment of social changes.

Instead on emphasizing on the leadership skills of certain individual we develop among participants the skills of active listening in order to properly diagnose the problems and opportunities, to evaluate available recourses and to be guided by the principles of sustainable development. It is the ability to hold the dialogue with the community during which it’s potential unfolds. Our participants build their project teams based on the cooperation with representatives of local community.

We also provide opportunities for the participants to get to know each other on the personal level, to understand different points of views, realities and perspectives, to find a common ground while talking in their own native languages, or to learn another one. There are opportunities for the neighbors’ visits to new interesting places and spaces. Those are good basis for building strong long-term friendships, stepping out of the limited surrounding, framed thinking, over the stereotypes.
